Found a possible cool new tool
August 8th, 2006 — maxwellSomeone sent me a link to a possible cool new tool. It’s hosted by Captorials.com. Basically it’s a slick new way to produce live screen capture video of your Linux machine. Afterwords you can then edit it to add in text, balloon items, and stuff. I don’t remain a fan of holding users hands through things, but I can see where this will prove to be quite useful in a helpdesk support situation. There are how-tos to get it running under Kubuntu and Ubuntu. I’m not a huge fan of Ubuntu, but I’m installing it as I type. Once I play with it awhile and see if it’s useful, I’ll post results on here. If I like it enough, I might even write up a how-to for getting it running under Fedora Core 5. The library files aren’t available for CentOS or RHEL, but with the little research I did so far, it looks like they are available for FC5. It’ll just be a matter of getting all the dependencies worked out. I’ll let you know. ![]()
