Microsoft’s certifications oops

Let me begin with a little history. A couple of years ago I took the Microsloth course on Windows 2000. I passed all the tests and received my MCSA. I neglected to take the last test because at that point I had already been hired where I worked, and more importantly I had already gotten into Linux and open-source software. That said, I received an e-mail a few weeks ago from Microsoft stating that my credentials had been upgraded to the MCSE. At first I was rather confused. I got to thinking then.

Ok, they’re phasing out W2K, so they are updating everyone in hopes they will spend more money to take the courses on say Windows 2003, or the supposed up and coming Vista. That makes sense from a marketing stand point, and so I went with that assumption. Now here comes the humor part.

Just this afternoon I received another e-mail from Microsoft. Instead of telling you what it was, I’ll just show you:

doze_messup

I just took a screen shot, because I didn’t feel like spending time to fix the messed up HTML that they are known to distribute.

After reading this note, I didn’t know whether to laugh so hard that I would fall out of my chair, or whether I should be sad because I know my career will never advance now (sarcasm there in case you didn’t get it :-P). Can you say oops! What a bunch of idiots. I know mistakes happen all the time at the place I work at…but normally the data is checked and verified before it’s shipped out the door. I guess when you’re held in such “high standards” you are able to skip this step of verification. I found this to be very humorous. Enjoy. :)
