How to move a root partition to LVM

I added a new guide today. My laptop’s root partition decided to fill up on my yesterday and I didn’t feel like repartitioning my entire drive just to fix things. When I installed CentOS long ago on my laptop, I wasn’t too sure about how LVM worked, so I left my root partition off LVM. At the time that seemed like a good idea, but now it’s not because it filled up.

I’m sure there are a lot of folks that have done what I did, and well since the Linux way isn’t to reinstall everytime you run into a little snafu, I thought the guide might help someone else. It’ll show you how to move things over to a new LVM partition, and then add that old space back into LVM so there is no wasted space sitting on a drive. Enjoy!
