Not much new today
May 2nd, 2006 — maxwellIf you came looking for a lot today, sorry. I’ve been spending some time on the pages links to the right. I put some more weblinks up, and I’ve been working on the “tools” page. Just collecting a list of the most commonly used tools in my toolbox. Hopefully it’ll be useful to someone. I was thinking about starting a small how-to page too. Mainly to have a place to dump a lot of the small how-to’s I use/have put together, but have scattered all over my hard drive in an unorderly manner. For instance, I spent a lot of time today figuring out how to use a freeware utility to load Winblows XP updates (I don’t use Active Directory at work). This way I can launch a few .cmd files and just have the damn things do their thing. I was getting sick of running updates. And if my work can spare some poor sap forced to run Windows some time and effort, when they enjoy using Linux, then by all means it should be my duty to help.
So, I might start putting these kinds of things together in a neatly formatted section. Plus that forces me to get some stuff organized on my laptop. My poor home directory is starting to look like a teenagers room that hasn’t been cleaned in months. Oh well, though, I’ve always been told if you have time to clean it means you’re not working hard enough. ![]()
