Thoughts from the abyss

I ran across this link this evening while eating dinner. Some father and daughter are having an “online” battle about her not cleaning her room. Her father posted pictures of her messy room on the internet in hope of shaming her into cleaning her room. So what did she do? Yep, went ahead and posted embarrassing pictures of her dad online doing something bad, I guess, I didn’t look.

This is what is wrong with people these days. Seriously, what the hell? If my parents said clean your room, I did it. I lived in their house, and I respected what they said, at least when it came to things like that. What did my folks do if I refused to clean my room? Easy, “You’re grounded!” “Who do you think you are?” and of course taking away my TV or video games would be the end of my world at that time. Of course the speech of “You’re living under my roof!” was short to follow afterwards as well. Now, first of all, the father should be able to make his offspring clean their living space without having to post “shameful” pictures on the internet. What the hell kind of a parent does that? I’m guessing one that lacks parenting skills. Secondly, if I would have retaliated by posting embarrassing pictures of my parents on the internet, I would have been fleeing to a different country in fear of my life. Then I would have to change my name, get plastic surgery done to disguise myself, and go into hiding forever. I wouldn’t have had time to pack a bag and get out alive before they got to me. I would have needed a witness protection program.

My parents were good parents, but my mother had one mean back-hand that’s for sure, especially if I would have pulled something like this. And my dad, well you just didn’t speak back to him to begin with, let alone doing something crazy like this. Again I say, what the hell is wrong with people these days? I, by no means, have had the “perfect” life, but at least my parents knew exactly how to parent. I think you should have to take some kind of test and pass before you are allowed to breed.
