VW fitted with a jet engine
May 4th, 2006 — maxwellAs soon as you read this title, I think anyone would instantly think “Hmm, yeah that sounds like a guy thing to do.” That’s about true. It’s a man’s duty on this earth to tweak, tear apart, outfit, or add the most power to anything we possibly can. Come on, you know it’s fun! Well that saying goes from anything to a PC case to, in this guys case, a Volkswagen. I was perusing Slashdot before bed and ran across this. This is just sweet! I want a ride!
This guy is a Standford Ph.D. engineer who just happens to own a company that makes electronic equipment used to calibrate engine performance and fuel economy. He must have been bored and so he strapped a Navy surplus General Electric T58-8F jet engine to the back of his bug. It’s a 1,450 horsepower monster that just happens to pass California emissions, which makes it street legal. That’s the funny part. Can you imagine driving down the road to get passed by what sounds like a Boeing jet “flying” by. Hmmmm…I want to take a jet engine and strap on my GSX-R now!
